Meet the team who make the magic happen
Harm Tegelaars – Managing Director
Harm is the Managing Director of SSC Ltd and its sole owner. He has been with the company since 2006.
From 1979 he was involved in the Health and Fitness and Sport sectors in UK and Holland as an entrepreneur and built the Cannons Group Plc from a single squash club into a £365 Million business by 2001.
Between 1991 and today he is involved as Angel investor in a number of companies in UK and Holland and acted as NED/Chairman in a number of these companies where the strategic advice and mentoring of young managements was needed.
He is the founder and Chairman of the Fitness Industry Association (now UKactive ) the UK trade association of the Health and Fitness industry until 2005. Between 2006 and 2014 Harm was also the President of the European Health and Fitness industry (EHFA), the European trade association and lobby group for the industry.
Kieran Jackson – Project Manager
Kieran is responsible for all new projects and new product design at ThruBeam. A University of Strathclyde Graduate with a 2:1 Bachelor’s Degree in Product Design Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Advanced Manufacturing: Forging and Forming.
His projects have included the development of a versatile platform for induction heating in small scale manufacturing production, the optimisation of imaging for machine vision systems in high-temperature forging environments, and the development of a ‘DfX’ guided manufacturing process selection toolkit.
Kieran joined in July 2018 and has focussed on continuous improvement to ThruBeam’s products, production methods and various measures to improve efficiency. Kieran has delivered three specific new projects at the Barrow factory since his arrival.
During this period, he has also worked on the development of a modular frame system that ThruBeam are excited to reveal in the near future.
Alex Clayton – Production Manager
Alex, as the ThruBeam production manager, is also involved with new product design with his colleague, Kieran.
A University of Strathclyde Graduate where he achieved a 2:1 in Product Design Engineering BEng (Hons) from the department of Design Manufacture Engineering Management (DMEM).
Following this he continued in academia through an Engineering Doctorate (EngD) with the University of Strathclyde and the Advanced Forming Research Centre (AFRC).
The first year of the EngD involved an equivalent MSc in Advanced Manufacturing and Forming before conducting research on the advanced manufacturing process known as rotary forging.
The project involved using a design of experiments methodology to determine the influence that processing parameters had on a series of response functions in order to optimise the process.
Alex joined ThruBeam in September 2018 and has contributed greatly to the efficient operation of the factory.
Sharron McKinlay – Financial Controller
Sharron joined ThruBeam in October 2010 and during that time has become responsible as the CFO for all financial and procurement activities.
She has held a number of roles in accounting before she came to ThruBeam from the NHS where she was an Assistant Management Accountant.
Prior to that she spent a number of years as Accounts Supervisor with the Cooperative Travel Group.
She works closely with the Managing Director and manages all aspects of the commercial and shipping functions within ThruBeam.
